In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see photos of the rooms in an interior design magazine. The breakfast is fantastic as well: fresh fruit salad, toast,...

There are many nice things we could say about the Kingsley: the rooms were comfortable (we were in the smallest room, which was cosy but nice), the breakfast was great, they offer free wi fi. But the best element of our stay was the amazing hospitality offered by Tony and Alya. They went above and beyond - giving us advice,...

John Calder is the charming landlord who always offers Kingsley guests a very special welcome. The Golden Pot is the perfect venue to enjoy a meal and a drink after a hard day, without having to drive.

The Golden Pot has a changing selection of cask ales predominately from local micro-breweries. For the second year running they have been acknowledged in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.

Our guests have commented very favourably on the service, food and beer!

Eversley village  was  home to the Victorian writer, scholar and social reformer, Charles Kingsley, who in the nineteenth century wrote several now famous children's books including The Water-Babies and Westward Ho!. As a social reformer he actively challenged the abject poverty suffered by agricultural workers at the time. He was friends with the American writer Harriet Beecher Stowe (Uncle Tom's Cabin) who visited him in Eversley in the 1850's.

The Kingsley was built for his  daughter, Rose Georgina Kingsley, herself an author and keen horticulturist, who planted most of the trees now flourishing in their maturity in the grounds. She  wrote "Eversley Gardens and Others" (pub.1907) a charming account of her garden and plants therein.

Tom Sweep is the apprentice  who in The Water-Babies escapes his master, Mr Grimes, to find peace and enlightenment with the water-babies he encounters under the waves.
